Pieces of Time was first started in 1975 by Alan Grant and Johnny Wachsmann. In 1995 the company expanded the established mail order service with a site on the Internet. This quickly became the largest specialist Antique Watch Site and retains that position to this day. For reference purposes, Pieces of Time maintains an online resource of all watches ever listed - over 3000 timepieces illustrated by 10000 images!

Pieces of Time is located in one of London's largest antique complexes, Grays Antique Market. Grays is home to a large number of individual dealers of antiques and collector's items, most of whom specialise in one particular field. Situated close to the American Embassy at the junction of Bond Street and Oxford Street in London's Mayfair neighborhood, it is only a few yards from Bond Street tube station and is open to the public.

In 1999, Marc Wachsmann created Cufflinks World, the child company of Pieces of Time. While upholding the high level of quality and client relations of Pieces of Time, Cufflinks World focuses primarily on cuff links-- albeit an exceptionally wide range of styles and materials, priced from £10 to £10,000.
